Reinis Hofmanis

Reinis Hofmanis (1985) is an artist, a Sony World Photography Awards laureate (2013), and a recipient of the Fujifilm GFX Challenge Global Grant (2025). The photography series LARP (Live Action Role Playing) features portraits of live-action role-players - people who have temporarily traded their everyday identities for fantasy characters inspired by movies, books, or video games.

The series embodies the artist's characteristic balance between documentary and staged photography, as well as a socio-anthropological aspect, reflected in his interest in typologizing various social groups, their behavioral patterns, and environments. LARP has been showcased in both group and solo exhibitions in Latvia (Cēsis Arts Festival in 2011, Kim? Contemporary Art Centre in 2011, Riga Photography Biennial in 2018) and abroad (Kaunas Photo Festival in 2013), proving the relevance and multifaceted narrative of the work.
